Reflections
3/25/2016 0 Comments Reflection Week 2Already in Week 2, this week we move our class to bilik media nearby DTAMS. I guess it is more comfortable as it is more spacious and there are more computers provided here. This week lecture was conducted by Dr.Fariza. I'm glad that she still remember familiar faces in her class during our first year. Dr.Fariza brief us on our assignments in this course and those look interesting for me; it must fun!
Other than that, Dr.Fariza also stress on our reflections where it also contribute marks and will effect our grades. In my first year, I have been ignorant towards reflection and I'm regret. For this semester, I will make sure I look up seriously on my reflections and of course other assignments too. Besides that, Fariza also show some examples on the 'real' reflection that we should reflect. I found out that all this while, some of my reflections were not the reflected ones. The reflections should not be written about what we have done or what we have experienced, but it is all about what we get and we learn after we experienced the class. It is about our own opinions and feelings. Lastly, we are also introduced about ADDIE. It consist of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Development. These are the elements that we need to insert in our video presentation and the storyboard will be discuss next week. |
Reflection Week 3It's the third week already. The class started to be more serious and focus on our tasks and assignments. Luckily this week Dr. Rosseni asked us to finish up and update our reflections. Besides that, Dr Rosseni also showed the class example of videos from our previous batch and asked us to learn it well. It was a guideline for us to do our video and improvise on many aspects.
I am impressed on thier effort and hardwork. I felt determined to do better and make our group project video more interesting and exciting. On this week, we make a group of 6 for our video project and I am happy to have them as my groupmates. Dr.Rosseni also gave us a taste of 'kek batik from Sarawak. Thank you, such a pleasure! Reflection Week 4Here we go in Week 4! In week 4, we are progressing in our storyboard in order to make our own edutech video. It is one of the group project work that will be evaluate by our lecturers.
We were given a mahjung paper to draw up our story board after discuss it with our group members and present it to the class. This is the traditional method for us to sketch and present our first idea of the storyboard. We were also given a time range before present it to the class in front of our colleagues and lecturers. This process is important in order for us student to think and generate ideas critically and creatively before we fix on our first draft. This also make us realize to emphasis on the element and key that we need to include in the videos and photos before compile it into a story. Shots, angles, colours and sounds are among the most important element that we need to fix on. After done discussing with my group mates, we made up our mind and decided to make a storyboard on 10 ways to be happy in life. We will look it in different ways and perspective in order for the video to be interesting. After presenting, we get some ideas and feed backs from the lecturers and we will improvise it to 5 ways to be happy in our second draft of storyboard. We really hope that we could make it fun and interesting in this edutech video! As future teachers, although we are now more into ICT or high-technology devices, we still need to know and appreciate traditional way of teaching. So we are divide into groups and asked to discuss the advantages and disadvantages.
My group choose WHITEBOARD as the medium of traditional teaching. Although it sounds cliche and bored, but it is the most usable tool in the classroom. This is because, not all school nowadays are equipped with latest technologies and gadgets. Teachers still need to teach and deliver their lesson in a traditional way. As we listed down the pros and cons, we find out that it is still reliable using whiteboards nowadays, As for me, I prefer teaching in traditional way and methods because it is more closer to our senses to deliver the lesson. Where you write and touch it all from your heart. It will be more prepared and smooth to teach in class. Furthermore, it is more easy to handle and use when it comes to handling problems better than the modern methods. All in all, based on today's lesson I realize that there are advantages and disadvantages in traditional and modern teaching ways. Therefore, it is up to us to use it wisely and efficiently. Reflection Week 6It is week 6 already! In this week class, Dr Khalid emphasize on The Principle on Multimedia Audio. Audio or melody will always influence the mood and situation. Without audio, music and melody it will sure be bored and gloomy.
According to Dr.Khalid, there are two types of audio. The types of audio are analog and digital. The example of analog is like the cassette tap. Other example analog audio told by Dr.Khalid is the black box in the aeroplane. This should be the medium recording all the sounds of activities in the plane. Another audio is the digital audio which we always here it through the CDs, mp3 players, radios and many more. This week class, we have been showed 2 different videos and we need to compare and contrast it and choose which one is better. The first video was video from the internet and the second video was from Dr.Khalid himself. I like and was attracted to the first video where it moves fast and very energetic in speed. It makes people watched without blink and wanted to be there. It is refreshing and energizing. For the second video, it is quite slow in terms of speed. It is interesting for all the pictures for the whole journey but the way it is compile and present, it does not give an enjoyment and fun watching the video. But both video have their strength and attraction. New experience handling on audio in Audacity was really an interesting activity. I am so grateful to grow up in 21st century and learn a lot of technological knowledge. I hope I could apply it better in video the video making.
Reflection Week 7Well today's class is an online class where we do not have any face to face class. Dr. Rosseni decided to conduct an online class and we need to upload our latest storyboard online. The storyboard must be updated and improvise, should be better than the previous storyboard that we have presented.
It is so thoughtful of the lecturers that they made an online class today because it is Week 7. We will be having our Mid Semester break starting tomorrow. So most of my classmates are back to their hometown since yesterday night. But still, we need to settle tasks and get our job done first! As for the storyboard, my group mates decided to improvise on the dialogue and a few scenes to be worked on. After we had some consultation with the lecturers, it is more appropriate to add on some elements of religious in the topic. '5 WAYS TO BE HAPPY' is the topic that we have chosen. Therefore, turning back to God is one of the simplest way for us to sustain happiness in life and hereafter. Looking forward for next class! Happy holiday everyone :) Reflection Week 8Today's class was simple yet interesting and enjoyable. Dr.Khalid introduce us the skill of using and mixing audio and clips. He explained the basic needs in mixing audio and clips which are layering font, audio, video to create video with messages. He also explain further in techniques to use it and to make it interesting in our project. Dr. Khalid also emphasizes that we should have strong message in our video that may be giving a lesson or motivate those who watch them. I agree with Dr.Khalid's advice that as a future educator, we need to have that skills not only teaching in classroom, but also teaching through other media such as online and other informal lesson.
After done explaining, Dr. Khalid ask us to practice on hands-on activities where we need to create our own motivational video using Movie Maker in our group. I only have some and few experience in using Move Maker. We work as a group and find a short video from Youtube. Search a suitable song as the soundtrack and background song, then compiled and layered it creatively after discussing among group members. This is actually an individual task but we choose to it in group as we share ideas and knowledge to make the best video. Isn't it the more the merrier? :) Yet making video is actually part of my favourite thing to do everytime there is a special day or event. Either it is the compilation of pictures and videos or pictures only. Although it is like a slideshow but I do really enjoy it. It is also part of my way to treasure my precious moments with my loved ones. Favourite pictures, favourite videos and favourite songs all in one! Reflection Week 9www.flickr.com/photos/142100905@N06/This week Dr. Fariza give a lecture on flickr where it is a platform where we need to upload all the pictures taken soon. This is part of our assignment that we will be having soon in Putrajaya.
I found put flickr is not that hard to use. It was easy to be registered and upload the pictures into that platform. For me, it is very useful as I can store all my precious moments and pictures in Flickr. I will definitely try to take my best photos in Putrajaya soon. We also have been asked to apply those techniques that we have learned in Photography. This is my link for my Flickr account. Do check this out! www.flickr.com/photos/142100905@N06/ |
